Alessio Lisci: "The team is improving and moving forward"

An early goal by Ante Budimir and a solid team effort led Osasuna to its first win of the season
Osasuna secured its first victory of the 2025-26 LaLiga season, defeating Valencia 1-0 at El Sadar on Sunday afternoon. Forward Ante Budimir sealed the triumph, netting the game-winning goal before the 10th minute. Head coach Alessio Lisci orchestrated a strong performance on both ends, as the Navarrese side outshot Valencia 16-4, with a 4-1 advantage in shots on goal.
The match began with both teams exhibiting intensity, but Osasuna quickly established dominance. In the 8th minute, defender Valentín Rosier recorded his first assist, feeding Budimir inside the box. The Croatian international capitalized with a well-placed header. Moments later, midfielder Moi Gómez nearly doubled the lead, forcing Valencia goalkeeper Julen Agirrezabala into a crucial save.
In the 22nd minute, defender José Gayá was shown a red card for a foul on forward Víctor Muñoz, who was heading toward a one-on-one with the keeper. As the first half concluded, Rosier appeared to score again, but the referee disallowed the goal due to Budimir being offside in the prior play.
After halftime, Osasuna maintained its momentum and continued to press Valencia. Midfielder Aimar had an opportunity on a counter, but couldn’t find the back of the net. Budimir attempted a long-range shot, and as the match neared its end, Moncayola tested Agirrezabala once more with a powerful effort from outside the box. In the 90th minute, forward Arnaut Danjuma scored, but the goal was called off for offside.
With the win, Osasuna collects its first three points in La Liga EA Sports. The team will now prepare for Week 3, where it faces Espanyol at the RCDE Stadium on Sunday, August 31. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. CET (6:30 p.m. BST/1:30 p.m. ET).
